    f/1.8 & f/1.4
    1.8 is 5 blades while 1.4 is 8 blades. 1.8 image is more harsh and the lens build also lousy. That is wat you can expect from a cheapo lens. 1.4 is a better lens for those that can afford it.     From all of the reviews I have read online it seems like a large number of 1.4 lens auto focus systems fail in the first 6 months to a year. My 1.8 has lasted for quite a while and has even survived a drop from fairly high up... that's why I am skipping the 1.4 and going to the 1.2 L.

    Get the Canon 50mm 1.4 and your images will look surprisingly good compared to 1.8.
